The Little Things

I found this picture on a random website, ( to be exact) and I cannot get over how cool this guy’s outfit is. He combines vans (which I  normally do not like), a double-breasted blazer, and casual pants to pull off a great look.

The vans are like saddle shoes (more on those later) but that he is dressing-down a double-breasted jacket without making it a point, that seems to be the secret to the success of his look. Often, people understand the stodgy nature of double-breasted and try to really contrast that, which is very hard to do well. This gentleman does so well because the jacket is not the focus.

I would not be surprised if this was from some huge blog (I’m thinking Sartorialist) but it’s pretty cool what you find just cruising random sites, because you just get to see so many more ideas, so many cool things, and you really see the person in these images.

That’s the key to all of this, I’m not showing this to tell you what to wear. Frankly, I wouldn’t wear this. But it’s something to be appreciated, something to consider… It’s just like the run-way shots, many times there are just elements of each look that I appreciate, that’s what we’re trying to do here. You do not progress, in life, let alone style-wise, by just going to things that are agreeable to you and within your comfort zone. Go to a hipster party, the opera, or a wrestling match, you’ll learn things about yourself and the world that you’ll appreciate forever.
