…is not to be confused with the work of extra terrestrials. In fact, there isn’t even a “crop” in sight when Jim Denevan begins his work; it’s just sand. Upon finding a good stick, Denevan will labor away for up to 7 hours, walking up to 30 miles, creating a work of art that may just wash away quicker than it was created. When one talks about “the sublime,” or subliminal art, this truly falls within that category. Denevan uses no rulers or instruments of measurement, but creates these extremely precise shapes when viewed from afar. It’s incredibly awe-inspiring and his website is filled with wonderful images of his work. Take a look here.
