Jose Parla

poetic-terrorism

If the world of graffiti and the world of calligraphy were to make acquaintances one night at a bar, perhaps drink a bit too much, mosey on to a hotel room and make sexy time, the child would come out in the form of a Jose Parla painting. Simply enough, the man has got skill. Parla’s paintings reflex much of his intrege, the effects a city’s inhabitants have upon their environment. These effects are represented in layers of decay and writing accompanied by a truly subliminal combination of colors and textures that makes me feel all tingly inside. I hope you enjoy Parla’s work as much as I do.
