The Eccentric, Istanbul

ahmet2

This is Ahmet from Istanbul, Turkey. He owns the shop behind him, a collection of all things downright cool. Yes, he is wearing a shawl-collared tuxedo with a magenta turtle-neck and leopard-print loafers. Could I do it? I’d have second thoughts with a gun to my head. But it works for Ahmet, because it reflects his character and shows that he is at ease with himself.

I think I’ve talked a lot about the importance of dressing as a reflection of yourself rather than for other people. I don’t think that means that you can wear shorts to a wedding, but of course having the situation in mind, your clothes should reflect how you are. Ahmet does this brilliantly, and while the choices, individually may sound odd, they come together very well to complement rather than define Ahmet.
