Real Retro, Chicago

It is summer time, and some people still like to wear suits. The issue is that many times, they seem to forget that there are various other fabrics other than wool.

This gentleman from Chicago, illustrates his understanding of both the worth of summer-weight fabrics, and more importantly, how to pull a retro look without looking like a douche.

It is not just the panama hat, it’s not just the semi-monochromatic color scheme, or the perfectly appropriate shoes. It’s just the fact that he actually knows what he’s doing.

It seems that when he put this outfit on, it wasn’t something that he felt like doing because he wanted to be “ironic.” It was because he actually has appreciation for this time period, for its style, for its norms, for its aesthetics.

If you want to go retro, do it right. So take some notes on what retro really means (myself included) and do it right next time you decide to go down memory lane.
