Casual Friday: The Leather Jacket

Now I know what you’re thinking, how can you talk about a leather jacket during the summer? Obviously, I’m not suggesting you wear this jacket during the day. In fact, you probably won’t wear a leather jacket most nights.

However, during those random cool summer nights, where a jacket is useful, skip the blazer for a day (I know, I can’t believe I said that either) and try something a little different: The Leather Motorcycle Jacket.

You’re probably thinking that the above jacket is expensive. You’d be right. It’s $1,880 by Rag & Bone. However, do not let that deter you.

The key is that you need something that zips up and has a significant collar, like the one above. If you wear anything close to this you are either married with children (and therefore cannot wear a motorcycle jacket) or have given up on life long ago.

This thing can be used for any time of year, but right now, black and leather are trendy. It also helps if you buy a thinner leather, perhaps a jacket without lining (or maybe take it out yourself?) and you can look awesome at night.

Why is black and leather in? Running out of things to rebel against, many designers felt that the weather was the next logical thing to be protesting against through their fashion. It is hot and sunny, so we’ll wear black leather to show our distaste for the weather and the drones who respect it.

Don’t wear it with blue jeans and a white t-shirt, unless you have a motorcycle or can actually pull of this hairstyle (which you most probably can’t). Try a red t-shirt, how about black-on-black? Black jeans, maybe even a pair of yellow ones? It’s your choice, but keep it simple, and you can’t go wrong.

Still thinking you can’t afford the Rag and Bone? You don’t have to. You can throw down $50 here and be just fine.

The mtorcycle jacket has never gone out of style. There is the base idea of the open roan and freedom that goes with the biker jacket.

There are many leather jackets that even have “vents’ to help with cooling.
