The Monocle, New York

So, forget the fact that he’s paired black with brown, though some do not have issues with that, but let’s just give credit where it is due.

This gentleman from New York has tossed society’s social pressures to the winds, because he does not just wear this Monocle, he owns it.

Do This

As usual, it is the style masters of yore that set the standards. If you are to wear a khaki suit, you have to decide how it will look.

The “problem” with khaki suits are not the suits, it is because many times the people who wear them do not decide whether they want a more casual look or not. This gentleman does not have this problem.

Rugby Chino Jacket

So its summer time and you probably want to set yourself apart from others. It’s only natural, so don’t worry. The question is, how can you? Summer is difficult for fashion, its hot, and makes putting pieces together hard.

The Fedora, Berlin

I am not a huge fan of the fedora. Mostly because my head is huge and I would look postivley stupid with one on. There seems to be a growing trend of hate against the fedora and I am not about to join in with the mob.

I have to say that this gentleman from Berlin really pulls off the look. I think the secret is that he is not trying to wear the hat with irony or in suicidal angles. It’s just a hat that he likes.

Purple Used Well

Purple is the new pink. I think the only men who haven’t gotten over the use of pink are still not sure if soap will make them smell “too girly.”

The gentleman above illustrates the tasteful use of purple. Notice the jacket cuff, not only does he have five buttons (versus the standard 3-4) but he has unbuttoned two to show that his suit is bespoke, that is a little style element adopted by peacocks all over the world.

I’m not sure where I found this picture, because it’d be interesting to see what shoes he chose to go with that suit.

Feel hardcore, got enough adrenalin to jump through windows, kick down doors and crash in everything that moves ? Well then you need $600 to get yourself one of Kitanica Mark IV jackets for the most hardcore of days.

With their Mark IV, Kitanica has made one of the most interesting jackets, an eye catcher and most important, protective gear which doesn’t look like you stole it from the S.W.A.T. team.  It comes in a standard black, a very interesting green, camo and ACU for those who are having a military day.  It comes standard with 6 big pockets, countless smaller pockets for pens and so on, Maglight holder, rib pads, back pad and most important rifle recoil shoulder pads. Moreover Kitanica says this jacket is designed with the best of materials, to keep you well protected and warm, it might just make coffee as well. All in one jacket.

So if you feel like having one of those days, got to Kitanica and get yourself one.

The Zegna Rain Jacket

Two days ago it was raining, but very cold, and while standing in line for some coffee some guy asked me “You’re one of those fashion guys, right?” I nodded and he then asked me “so my mom buys me this big coat, I’m from Florida, and its really nice,” [it was] “but it’s getting ruined by actually having this rain/sleet stuff all over it, what do I do?”

“I usually wear a rain coat,” I replied. Let me clarify, as I did for him, I wear a very insulated under-layer, that can be worn as a jacket on its own, on top of that, I wear my raincoat. I told him the only downside was that it got kind of bulky and annoying to take off and store between meetings and what not.

How does this connect to the Zegna Jacket above? It’s a rain jacket that you can actually wrap up and have a little bag instead of a cumbersome jacket on your arm or whatever. At $695, it might be a little pricey, but the convenience and ease in which you’ll be able to get between classes, meetings, or flights will be worth the extra you pay.

Check it out here.
